Cancer Detection Program

The Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (ABCCEDP) provides pap smears, clinical breast exams, and mammograms to eligible women. To see if you qualify and to schedule an appointment, call (334) 678-2800.

Medicaid Eligibility

Medicaid eligibility workers are onsite at the Houston County Health Department to take applications for SOBRA Medicaid Women and Children and the new Plan First Medicaid Family Planning Program.

Diabetes Clinic

Diabetes resources, community and individual education, are provided to the general public by a registered nurse. For more information, please call (334) 678-2800 and ask for the Diabetes Clinic.

Tuberculosis Clinic

Tuberculin skin testing for individuals at high risk of developing tuberculosis. Sputum testing is available to anyone for diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis. Medications are provided free of charge when indicated. For TB clinic hours, visit Clinical Services.

Infectious Diseases

This department investigates cases of reportable diseases and disease outbreaks, maintains surveillance of notifiable diseases, and answers questions about disease control and other health related events. Sexually Transmitted Diseases/HIV

Confidential testing, examination, counseling, treatment and investigation of sexually transmitted diseases (STD)/HIV are provided for anyone, free of charge, 12 years of age or older. For the STD/HIV clinic schedule, visit Clinical Services.

HIV and other test results can only be given to the person who received the tests. The results may not be given over the telephone. Please call (334) 678-2800 for an appointment.
