Program Overview

PrEP is a promising new biomedical intervention that can prevent HIV infection in persons at high risk for contracting HIV. PrEP and the use of condoms are even more effective in preventing HIV infection. PrEP is not reaching the people who could benefit from it. PrEP has the potential to reduce new HIV infections if potential patients know about it, have access to it and it is taken as prescribed. Patients need to be informed and discussions need to occur regarding access PrEP and the benefits and myths surrounding PrEP.
